It seems that Toyota’s crisis has benefited a lot of other automakers. This year, only one Toyota and one Lexus vehicle have made it to Consumer Reports’ Top Picks list. The Toyota Highlander and RAV4 are off the Top Picks list due to the unintended acceleration issue, and it is surprising that the bestselling Camry is not even mentioned. As a result of that, there are more varieties in the latest list.
The main judging criterion include a standard set of road tests, predicted reliability based on issues reported by its members, and safety rating based on crash test data and the level of safety equipment available.
